The Norwin Art League is a
nonprofit organization that has provided art
enrichment and art education to the Norwin
communities since 1954. The League is one of the
largest in Western Pennsylvania with a membership of
over 180. Our members range from the experienced
professional, to the talented amateur, to the
“Sunday painter”.
The Norwin Art League offers
art classes and art workshops year ‘round except
for a break during the Christmas holiday and bad
weather months of January and February. Classes and
workshops are available for the beginner to the
experienced, adults, and children. Each season
offers new workshops in a variety of mediums from
drawing, oil painting, watercolor, and pastel, to
jewelry making and even airbrush.
The Norwin Art League
exhibits its members’
artwork
at two annual shows and year ‘round in seven
different venues including Forbes Regional Hospital
and local restaurants. Many of our members have sold
their artwork through these venues.

- Thank you to Emil (Bud) Nagy for being the Editor of
our newsletter for so many years. We appreciate all of
the hard and wonderful work you have done for the Art
League.
Note from the Editor
I’m looking forward to being the new editor of the Art
League newsletter. Please bear with me as I grow into this
responsibility. Bud Nagy has done an outstanding job with
the newsletter for the past few years – which makes it a
“tough act to follow”. I welcome any comments or suggestions
to make the Art League newsletter more useful to you – the
members. Thank you …..Ellen Hildenbrand 724-863-7282

Display or Sell Your Paintings
Redstone Highlands are looking for artists to display or
sell their paintings at their three facilities at North
Huntingdon, Greensburg and Murrysville. The area to display
the paintings would hold approximately 15 paintings
(depending on the size of the paintings). The paintings
would be displayed for a two month period, starting on the
1st of the month and then taken down on the last day of the
following month. If you would like to take advantage of this
opportunity, please contact Linda Hodge at (724) 733-9494
and she will inform you to what time slots are available.
Custom Picture Framing by Dave Rawlins
D ave has temporarily suspended his mat cutting
workshop due to health reasons. Rawlins Framing shop is
still open. Dave offers a full line of quality framing
services and supplies. Telephone number (724) 744-4531. Dave
now has a shrink wrap machine and can now wrap matted
pictures. Pastels and pencil drawings should be sprayed
before matting and shrink wrapped, if you want to sell them
unframed.
Membership Drive
T he art league
presently has over 150 members. This year we‘d like to
double our membership, partly to increase our revenue but
also to promote our wonderful organization to the community.
In spite of the fact that the Norwin Art League has been a
part of our community for 54 years, there are many people
who have no idea we exist. We’re asking you to sign up one
new member this year. Maybe a parent, son or daughter, or
good friend who is interested in art but has never belonged.
A $25.00 membership or $40.00 family membership makes a
great gift especially for someone who‘s hard to buy for.
With their membership they’ll receive all the newsletters
and workshop flyers throughout the year. They‘ll also be
eligible to exhibit and sell their own artwork at any of our
7 venues. The Norwin Art League is one of THE BEST art
organizations in Western Pa.
Library Books
Our library is over stocked and sadly under-used. We are
making available a number of lightly used art books for
sale. Stop into the league for details.
Newsletter Downloads
A copy of the

2010 newsletter is available for

Newsletter by E-Mail
We would like to start sending your bi-monthly newsletter
by E-mail to those of you that have computers. This would
save the Norwin Art League a lot of time and money. You
would be able to get the newsletter a lot faster. If this is
something that you would not want to see happen, please
notify us at
budnagy@comcast.net,
sap53@aol.com or
bobvon123@aol.com. If you change your carrier, please
notify us as soon as possible.
